Reiki (ray-key), or the Usui System of Natural
Healing, is based on an ancient system of healing that is thousands
of years old. It was re-discovered by a Japanese monk called Dr
Mikao Usui in the nineteenth century. It is a unique hands-on healing
technique because of its ancient 'attunement process'.

The word 'Reiki' is Japanese and means universal
life force energy. This energy works on a mental, physical, emotional
and spiritual level. It is drawn effortlessly through the body and
will go to where it is needed, releasing blocked energies, promoting
healing, relaxation and well-being.
Used regularly, it can help to prevent diseases and strengthen the
immune system. It can be used for self-healing and for healing others.
Experienced therapists have reported that by combining Reiki with
their therapy, they have found the effectiveness of the treatment
has been significantly increased and enhanced. |

Reflexology is a natural form of healing
using the feet and sometimes the hands to treat the whole body.
It is the practice of stimulating the reflexes of the feet in a
systematic manner. Nerve endings in the feet are stimulated with
a particular form of massage using thumbs and sometimes fingers.
When stimulated, these areas have a relaxing and healing effect
on different parts of the body.
It is a holistic therapy and works on the
whole body, including the mind, spirit and emotions. Unlike conventional
medicine, reflexology works on the presenting underlying or root
problem, not the symptom. The body is stimulated to heal itself.

The treatment is subtle and sophisticated and is a combination
of both an art and a science. A skilled practitioner will
use a variety of precise techniques which, when applied, can
help to determine which areas of the body are congested or
not functioning properly. During a treatment, clients sometimes
report that their feet feel sensitive, bruised, tender or
even gritty.

The ancient art of head massage
originated in India over 1000 years ago. It is a massage for the scalp,
face, neck and shoulders and was traditionally used by Indian women
as a beauty treatment, to keep their hair healthy and lustrous.
Indian head massage has other benefits. It can massage away stress,
reduce nervous tension, relieve conditions such as eye strain, tiredness,
insomnia and sinusitis. It can soothe muscular tension and stiffness
in the shoulders, encourage better hair growth by stimulating and
increasing circulation to the scalp, and aids in the elimination of
accumulated toxins and waste products.
Susie uses a range of different massage
pressures and rhythms to manipulate the soft tissues. Advice is
given on the benefits of oils used. Treatments can provide immediate
and beneficial relief.
As well as feeling very relaxed, clients experience a profound sense
of tranquility and balance as the treatment works on the body's
chakras or energy centres.
